In the 33rd match of IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians defeated Punjab Kings by 9 runs in a thrilling match. In this thrilling match, while chasing the target of 193 runs, the entire Punjab team was all out for 183 runs in 19.1 overs and lost the match. This is the fourth win of Mumbai Indians in seven matches. Chasing the target of 193 runs, Punjab had a very bad start and lost four wickets for 14 runs. Captain Sam Curran (6), Prabhsimran Singh (zero), Riley Russo (one), Liam Livingston (one) were out after scoring runs.
At the time of such crisis, Harpreet Singh and Shashank Singh tried to handle the innings. Harpreet Singh (13) and Jitesh Sharma (9) were out after scoring runs. Shashank Singh scored 41 runs in 25 balls hitting two fours and three sixes. Ashutosh Sharma played an innings of 61 runs in 28 balls, hitting two fours and seven sixes. Harpreet Brar was out after scoring 21. Kagiso Rabada was out after scoring eight runs. Harshal Patel remained unbeaten after scoring one run. Punjab team was reduced to 183 runs in 19.1 overs. For Mumbai Indians, Gerald Coetzee took three wickets each for 32 runs and Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets for 21 runs. Akash Madhwal and Shreyas Gopal got one wicket each.


Earlier, on the basis of brilliant innings of Suryakumar Yadav (78), Rohit Sharma (36) and Talik Verma’s unbeaten (34) runs, Mumbai Indians had given a target of 193 runs to Punjab Kings to win. In this match, Punjab Kings captain Sam Curran won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mumbai Indians, who came to bat, did not have a good start and Ishan Kishan (8) became the victim of Rabada. After this, Rohit Sharma handled the innings with Suryakumar Yadav and both the batsmen added 81 runs for the second wicket. S Karan dismissed Rohit Sharma in the 12th over. Rohit scored 36 runs in 25 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. Whereas Suryakumar Yadav played an innings of 78 runs in 53 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. He was caught out by S Karan at the hands of Prabhasimran.


Captain Hardik Pandya (10) and Tim David (14), Romario Shepherd (one) were out after scoring runs. Tilak Verma scored unbeaten 34 runs in 18 balls hitting two fours and two sixes. Mumbai scored 192 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Harshal Patel got three wickets for Punjab Kings. Sam Curran took two wickets. Kagiso Rabada took one wicket.
