Ashutosh Sharma with his unbeaten 66 runs, pulled a dramatic win for the Delhi Capitals in their opening game of the IPL 2025 played against LSG.

Speaking of the match, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings for LSG while Mitchell Starc opened the bowling attack.

Though Markram made a steady start his opening partner Mitchell Marsh kick-started his inning with a maximum of the final delivery of the first over.

Axar Patel in the next over gave only five runs but Mitchell Starc who bowled the third over gave a whopping 21 runs. DC lost a review in the next over as Axar Patel decided to take a review against the umpire’s decision but the hosts lost a review as Mitchell Marsh survived the LBW dismissal.

But Vipraj Nigam in the next over bagged his maiden IPL wicket by dismissing Markram for 15 runs. At the end of five overs, LSG scored 50 runs for a wicket loss. Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh started to execute an aggressive performance which pushed LSG’s score to 98 runs for one wicket loss at the end of 8 overs.

In the seventh over, Sameer Rizvi dropped Nicholas Pooran‘s catch and made a massive blunter. The duo continued their momentum and dragged LSG to score 117 runs for one wicket loss at the end of 10 overs.

Mukesh Kumar in the fourth delivery of the 12th over broke the 87 runs stand by dismissing Mitchell Marsh for 72 runs. But Pooran executed a madness knock in the next over by scoring 28 runs which also made him secure his half-century in just 23 balls.

Kuldeep Yadav in the next over dismissed LSG’s captain for six ball duck while Mitchell Starc in the 15th over dismissed Pooran for 75 runs and brought DC back in the game. With Miller’s 19 balls 27 runs, LSG scored 209 runs for 8 wickets loss at the end of 20 overs.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals made a struggling start by losing a couple of wickets in the very first over. Thakur in the first over of the second inning dismissed Fraser-McGurk(1) and Abishek Porel(0) and loaded pressure over the Delhi Capitals batting lineup.

In the followed over, M Siddharth dismissed Sameer Rizvi for 4 runs and intensified the pressure. While Faf du Plessis and Axar Patel was seen building a partnership, Digvesh Rathi in the third delivery of the 6th over dismissed DC captain Axar Patel for 22 runs and made a massive blow for Delhi.

Though DC lost wickets at one end, Faf du Plessis stood tall at the other end. But Ravi Bishnoi puts an end to Faf du Plessis’ decent knock. Following du Plessis’ dismissal, Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma made a steady knock and dragged Delhi Capitals to score 101 runs for 5 wickets loss at the end of 12 overs.

In the next over from M Siddharth, Stubbs struck back-to-back monstrous sixes but lost his wicket in the third delivery after the umpires opted for the new ball. Following Stubb’s dismissal, Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam showcased aggressive gameplay and showed some confidence of winning the game.

But Digvesh Rathi in the first ball of the 17th over scattered DC’s hope of winning the game by dismissing Vipraj Nigam for 39 runs.
