Hardik Pandya is on the verge of getting banned for one game in the Indian Premier League 2024. The Mumbai Indians committed the second slow overrate offense in the 17th season, and captain Hardik will be fined INR 24 lakh by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
If Mumbai fails to complete the overs on time in one more game, Hardik will have to sit out of one contest. MI was two overs short at the end of the allotted time. The five-time champions could place only four fielders instead of five outside the thirty-yard circle.
Meanwhile, Mumbai won the game by 9 runs to clinch their third win of the season. The visitors posted 192/7, with Suryakumar Yadav accumulating 78 runs. Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma made valuable contributions.
The top order of Punjab collapsed, and it was again sent down to Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh.
Ashutosh scored 61 runs off 28 balls, including 7 sixes and 2 fours. His dismissal ended Punjab’s hopes.
Shashank managed 41 off 25, including 3 sixes and 2 fours. Punjab was bowled out for 183, falling short by 9 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets.
It was Mumbai’s third win of the season, and they are now seventh in the table with six points. On the other hand, Punjab has lost five out of seven games.
Hardik was fined INR 12 lakh when Mumbai failed to complete overs on time in their opening match against Gujarat Titans.
