Indian Premier League: Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, forgotten India all-rounder Shardul Thakur is likely to replace Mohsin Khan in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad.

Mohsin suffered an ACL injury last year which kept him away from the field since December. On top of that, he also sustained a calf strain during the net sessions with LSG before the start of the upcoming season.

According to a report from ToI, the Lucknow-based franchise had to make the decision to replace Mohsin as their main pacer Mayank Yadav's return in the IPL 2025 is still uncertain. However, the official confirmation from the franchise is yet to be made regarding the joining of Shardul Thakur.

Mayank Yadav Is Still Recovering At Centre of Excellence

Mayank Yadav is currently recovering at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. With the core fast bowlers of the LSG are injured, Thakur is likely to lead the franchise's pace attack in the upcoming edition of the T20 tournament.

Thakur had a base price of Rs 2 crore and went unsold during the IPL 2025 mega-auction. The 33-year-old played 95 IPL matches and scored 307 runs at a strike rate of 138.91. He also bagged 94 wickets in the cash-rich tournament at an economy rate of 9.23.

Shardul Thakur Bagged 5 Wickets In IPL 2024

Thakur has been a prominent face in the IPL, he represented many franchises in the tournament like, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rising Pune Supergiant. If he joins LSG, it will be Thakur's sixth franchise in the tournament. In IPL 2024, Thakur played nine matches and bagged just five wickets at an economy rate of 9.76.

Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan made his debut in IPL in the 2022 season, following that he has played 23 matches in the tournament, picking 27 wickets at an economy rate of 8.51.
