Promising young uncapped batter Priyansh Arya shined alongside skipper Shreyas Iyer and wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh during Punjab Kings (PBKS) practice match ahead of the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
The 24-year-old Arya was bought by PBKS at the IPL 2025 mega auction for Rs 3.8 Crore after impressing during the Delhi Premier League (DPL) last year. And the young opener showcased his ability before the season gets under way in PBKS practice match.
Arya scored 72 off 31 balls, sharing a great stand with Prabhsimran, who carried on his form from last season, scoring 66 off 42 balls for PBKS A team in their run chase of 206 at the Mullanpur Stadium on Wednesday (March 19). For PBKS B, Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball, finishing with figures of 2/22.
Earlier, skipper Shreyas continued his rich vein of form with the bat by scoring a 41-ball 85 before Vishnu Vinod also contributed with 26 off 10 balls to take PBKS B to 205. For PBKS A, Shashank Singh, who has often made noise with the bat, impressed with the ball this time, ending with figures of 2/38.

Coming back to Priyansh Arya, the youngster announced his arrival last year during DPL, representing South Delhi Superstarz. The left-handed batter smashed 6 consecutive sixes for South Delhi Superstarz against North Delhi Strikers.
He scored an explosive 120, which included 10 sixes and 10 fours, duringt the DPL to help his team to a massive total of 308/5 on a record-breaking night, also reaching his century in just 40 balls.
Arya had emerged as Delhi's top run-scorer in the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) with 222 runs in seven innings at an average of 31.71 and a strike rate of 166.91, but went unsold in 2024 IPL auction, which was held in 2023.
In 2024, he scored his maiden SMAT hundred, in a knock that included 10 sixes against Uttar Pradesh at the Wankhede Stadium, seeing his fortunes change at the IPL auction with Punjab Kings securing his services for the upcoming season.
Punjab Kings will begin their quest for the elusive title under head coach Ricky Ponting and skipper Shreyas Iyer on March 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against Gujarat Titans (GT).
