Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has reportedly requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to reschedule the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants as the match date coincides with Ram Navami festival.

The defending champions KKR were scheduled to face LSG at their home venue - Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 6th, which happens to be the same day as Ram Navami, which is grandly celebrated across the country.

According to a report in Sportstar, CAB has written to BCCI to change the dates after Kolkata Police and the local authorities informed the the Bengal cricket board officials that they will not be able to provide enough security for the fixture due to Ram Navami festivities.

"We had long discussions with the authorities and the police where they made it clear that it won't be possible to provide adequate security due to the festivities, despite it being a day fixture. We have now requested the BCCI for a rescheduling, and hopefully, we will have clarity over the next couple of days," CAB president Snehasish Ganguly told Sportstar.

The report also added that BCCI has received the request from CAB and are looking at what can be done to address the issue at earliest as KKR vs LSG match is expected to garner a lot of interest.

"We have received a formal request from the CAB and are currently exploring the possibilities. The demand for the tickets will be high for the match, and we are hopeful of finding a solution at the earliest," a source in the BCCI told Sportstar.

Even last season, Kolkata Knight Riders' home match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) was rescheduled due to the exact same reason. The KKR vs RR match was originally slated to be held on April 17, but was later preponed to April 16 due to Ram Navami festival.
