Delhi: Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has given a big statement regarding the great wicketkeeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He has said that he can easily convince Dinesh Karthik for the role of wicketkeeper for the upcoming T20 World Cup than Dhoni. The Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) is being seen as an audition platform for the upcoming World Cup, which will begin in the USA and West Indies from June 2, immediately after the IPL.

Speaking on Club Prairie Fire Podcast, Rohit praised MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik in IPL 2024. He said that it may be difficult to convince Dhoni for the wicketkeeper's position. The Hitman impressed with Dhoni's innings for CSK against MI as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 20 runs at the Wankhede Stadium.

36-year-old Rohit said in the podcast, “I was very impressed, very impressed, especially with Dinesh, the way he batted a few nights ago. Dhoni too, he came to play 4 balls and made a huge impact with those 20 runs. After all, this was the difference in the game.”

He further said, “I think it will definitely be difficult to convince MSD to come to West Indies. He is tired. However, he is coming to America to do something else. He is into golf, so I think he will play golf.” I think it will be easy to convince DK.”

Let us tell you that recently a stump-mic comment of Rohit had gone viral, in which he was joking with Karthik on the field. The former MI captain was impressed by Karthik's brilliant innings for RCB and asked him to make it to the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. Now Rohit revealed that he was trying to put pressure on Karthik, who played an inning of 53 runs in 23 balls to take RCB to the score of 196 runs.

The right-handed batsman said, “I was just trying to put some pressure on him. Finally, spoke after the match against SRH. I think some captain was asking whether I am ready for the World Cup, this answer is I am.”

Dinesh Karthik has performed brilliantly in the current IPL.

It is worth noting that Karthik is in excellent form in the current season and recently he played a brilliant inning of 83 runs in 35 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Remember that Dinesh had made a comeback in the Indian team and played in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022. However, he has not played for the Indian team after the match against Bangladesh in Adelaide.
