Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has suffered a major blow as their speed sensation Mayank Yadav is set to miss few matches of the IPL 2025 season.
Mayank Yadav who suffered a lumbar stress injury, underwent rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and recently started bowling once again.
According to reports, Mayank Yadav resumed bowling after he had almost recovered from his tie injury. The report added that he will return to IPL in mid-April, indicating that he would likely feature in the game against Chennai Super Kings at Ekana Stadium.
The source also added that LSG wanted Mayank’s rehabilitation at the NCA to take place under their care, but their plea was rejected as the fast bowler is under BCCI contract.
“Mayank is doing well in the nets. He has started bowling and is giving good signs of match readiness. The only thing awaited is the green signal from Centre of Excellence. We are very hopeful that he will be with us soon,” the source said.
Mayank Yadav made his IPL debut for LSG last year where he picked seven wickets in four matches at 12.14. But his campaign was cutshort due to injury.
He earned his international debut in October last year in the home series against Bangladesh. He played all three games, picking four wickets at an economy rate of 6.91.
The franchise mentor Zaheer Khan stated recently that the franchise wants Mayank to be ‘150 percent fit’.
“As much as we are keen on having him (play IPL 2025), we want him 150 per cent fit not just 100 per cent fit so we will do everything possible to get him there,” said Zaheer.
Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur and Shivam Mavi are likely to join Lucknow Super Giants for the IPL 2025 season as they were spotted celebrating Holi with the team.
Lucknow Super Giants will play their first match of the IPL 2025 against Delhi Capitals on March 24 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
