Delhi: Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen said that star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant will be ready to represent India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, provided he gets time to play in the remaining matches of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Delhi Capitals (GT) captain was awarded the Player of the Match award after their 6-wicket win against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday. He got this title for his wicketkeeping talent and excellent captaincy. Under his leadership, DC played an important role in bowling out Shubman Gill led GT for 89 runs.
Apart from the brilliant bowling performance by Mukesh Kumar, Truston Stubbs and Ishant Sharma against GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Pant played a vital role in his team's victory behind the stumps. The 26-year-old took an incredible catch to dismiss GT's David Miller. After this, stumping of Abhinav Manohar and Shahrukh Khan.

Speaking to Star Sports, Pietersen praised Pant and noted how the wicketkeeper batsman looks ready to play in the T20 World Cup.
43-year-old Pietersen said, “He (Pant) is doing a very good job. I felt that today (Wednesday) he must have got a lot of courage. This would have increased the enthusiasm of Team India also. He needs match time. Sure, everyone needs it. He is coming back from a terrible injury, so he should get more match time and to play 14,15,16,17 matches to take himself to the T20 World Cup is a big thing. So if he (DC) plays that much cricket, he (Pant) will be ready to make his place in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.”
Delhi Capitals defeated GT easily
If we talk about the match, while chasing the target of 90 runs, Jake Fraser-McGurk gave a good start to DC by scoring 20 runs in 10 balls. After this, Shai Hope and Abhishek Porel also batted explosively. In the end, Pant and Sumit Kumar led their team to a spectacular victory.

This win took DC from eighth to sixth place in the IPL 2024 points table. Now their next match will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 20th April.
