In a one-sided match, Delhi Capitals (DC) secured a comfortable six-wicket win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 32nd game of the IPL 2024 season. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, DC’s bowlers delivered an excellent performance. They limited GT to their lowest-ever IPL total of 89 in just 8.5 overs.
Mukesh Kumar was DC’s standout bowler, claiming 3/14 in 2.3 overs. Seeing the Bengal Pacer deliver after his comeback to the playing XI was refreshing. He bowled some good deliveries and kept pressure on the batsmen, which yielded their wickets. Moreover, the veteran Ishant Sharma had already done the damage. Ishant Sharma took 2 crucial wickets in the powerplay and broke the back of the GT batting lineup. He took the prized wickets of Shubman Gill and David Miller.
Chasing a modest target, DC’s batsmen had little trouble achieving it, reaching it in just 53 balls with six wickets in hand. Fraser-McGurk was the top scorer for DC with 20 runs. Despite losing a few wickets, DC appeared comfortable throughout the chase.
The victory elevated DC to sixth place in the points table, ahead of GT based on net run rate. The convincing win will give DC a confidence boost as they aim to climb higher in the standings in the remaining matches of the season.
