UP Warriorz (UPW) and Gujarat Giants (GG) will lock horns in the eighth match of Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 on Friday (March 1) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Fourth UPW led by Alyssa Healy head into the match on the back of a win over Mumbai Indians, ending their two-match losing streak, while Beth Mooney's Gujarat Giants were handed their successive loss of the season in as many games by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Grace Harris and Sophie Ecclestone bowled tight spells to restrict Mumbai Indians to 161/6 before Kiran Navgire smashed a 31-ball 57 to power UP Warriorz to their first win of the season with 7 wickets and 21 balls to spare. Bottom-placed Gujarat Giants, on the other hand, could only manage to post 107/7 in 20 overs with the bat, while the bowlers took a beating, conceding defeat in 12.3 overs as RCB sealed an 8-wicket win in Bengaluru.
