India's veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin recently etched his name into the record books by taking 500 wickets in Tests, which is the second most by an Indian after Anil Kumble (619 wickets).

The experienced campaigner achieved the feat in the third Test against England in Jharkhand. During the fourth Test in Ranchi, Ravi Ashwin scripted history by breaking Anil Kumble's record for the most Test wickets taken by an Indian at home. Anil Kumble once held the record for taking 350 wickets in 63 Tests. Meanwhile, Ravi Ashwin shattered Anil Kumble's record in the Ranchi Test by taking his home wicket tally to 354 wickets in 59 Tests. Not only that, he also managed to equal Anil Kumble's record of most Test fifers for India. The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer bagged his 35th fifer in the second innings against England in the Ranchi Test match. In the process, he equalled Anil Kumble's record for most fifers (35) for India. His scintillating bowling spell helped India to get back in the hunt as the hosts found a way to churn out a win. The senior pro will be fancying his chances of shattering yet another Anil Kumble record when he takes the field against England in the fifth Test in Dharamshala on March 7. If he manages to bag a fifer in the fifth Test, then he will take his fifer tally to 36, which will be the most by an Indian bowler in Tests. The veteran has played 99 Tests for Team India and is set to become only the 14th Indian to play 100 Tests for the country. As far as the Test series is concerned, England won the Test opener but India made a stellar comeback in the next three games by winning a hat-trick of games to win the series by 3-1.
