Lucknow: After the embarrassing defeat in the match played against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill has given a shocking statement. Let us tell you that these two teams were face to face in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and here Par GT had to face a huge defeat. In this match, DC all out Gujarat for just 89 runs and the pitch there was helping the fast bowlers a lot.

Fast bowlers dominated this match in this ground of Ahmedabad. This can be gauged from the fact that a total of 14 wickets fell in the match, out of which 9 were taken by the fast bowlers, while only 4 wickets were taken by the spinners. Even during the second innings on this wicket, there was help for the pacer and the ball was swinging. Apart from this, there was some help for the spinners on the pitch. In such a situation, Gill has given a big statement while talking in the post match presentation on the question raised regarding the pitch.

He said, “Our batting was very bad and now we have to move ahead and come back strongly. This pitch was fine because if you look at some of the batsmen, they got out through their own mistakes and the pitch had nothing to do with it. I would say that the players chose bad shots due to which they lost their wickets.”

Gill further said, “If the opposition team is chasing 89 runs, then that team will always remain in the match until a player takes a hat-trick twice. This is the halfway point of the season for us and during this period we have won 3 matches. We will try to win 5 or 6 out of the coming 7 matches.”

Gill's bat did not work against DC and he was out after scoring 8 runs in 6 balls. As soon as he was out, other players of the team could not stay on the field for long and the result was that the team was all out for 89 runs in 17.3 overs. After this, while chasing the target, Delhi team achieved it in 8.5 overs and won the match by 6 wickets. DC has also registered the biggest win in its IPL history in this match.
