Delhi: England star batsman Harry Brook is under threat of a two -year ban. This ban is not to international cricket, but to IPL (IPL 2025). In fact, Delhi Capitals (DC) bought Brook for Rs 6.25 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, while his base price was Rs 2 crore. But, now he has decided to withdraw the name from the tournament, due to which he may have to face the ban.
Why did Brook take back the name?
Harry Brook shared a post on social media and told that he wants to rest after his busy international cricket schedule.
He apologized to Delhi Capitals and fans, saying, “I have taken a difficult decision to withdraw from IPL. I apologize to Delhi Capitals and my fans. It was my dream to play cricket and I am grateful to get this opportunity. I have thought a lot on this decision. This is a very important time for England cricket and I want to focus on the preparation of the upcoming series. For this, I need to refresh myself. I know that not everyone will understand this decision, but I am doing what I feel right. It is a priority for me to play for my country. “Why can it be banned?
The rules were issued before the mega auction of IPL 2025, in which it was said that if a player moves away from the tournament after being purchased in the auction, he would be banned for the next two seasons.
However, if a player is removed due to fitness problem, then he can get a discount. Now it has to be seen what the BCCI takes on Brook's decision and whether he is banned from the IPL for the next two years.
