Kane Williamson went past AB de Villiers after scoring a hundred in the second semifinal of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Williamson amassed his 15th ODI ton. It was his third consecutive century against the Proteas. He was dismissed after scoring 102 runs off 94 balls, with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes.
It was Williamson’s 48th hundred across formats in international cricket, surpassing AB de Villiers’s 47 centuries. The 34-year-old also scored his fourth century in the ICC ODI tournaments.
He shared a 164-run partnership off 154 deliveries with Rachin Ravindra for the second wicker. Kane looked in complete control as he dominated the rival bowlers. Williamson also completed 19000 runs in international cricket, becoming the first player from his country and the fourth fastest overall.
Kane has battled many injuries in the last few years, missing international cricket.
Meanwhile, New Zealand defeated South Africa by 50 runs to qualify for the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. They will meet in Dubai, India, on March 9. Rachin Ravindra was named the Player of the Match for scoring a hundred and taking one wicket.
In the previous match between the two sides, the Men in Blue registered a 44-run victory. Varun Chakravarthy took five wickets, and cricket experts hailed his inclusion in the Playing XI as India played four spinners in the contest.
