The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clash against Lucknow Super Giants on April 06 in the IPL 2025 season faces a major risk as the match date coincides with Ram Navami celebrations.
Kolkata Police has expressed an inability to provide adequate security for the match which results in rescheduling. The IPL 2025 season is set to commence in a few weeks, creating excitement among players and fans.
As teams preparing for the upcoming season, the Ram Navmi and KKR vs LSG clash falls on the same date which causes trouble.

In response, officials from Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) have engaged in discussions with the state’s Sports Minister. The Sports Minister has assured the CAB of his support and promised to discuss with the Kolkata Police to identify a feasible solution.
The game’s significance has grown due to Lucknow’s ownership ties with Kolkata industrialist Sanjiv Goenka and the recent addition of star player Rishabh Pant to the team.
Changing the match venue or rescheduling is complex, given the enthusiasm surrounding the KKR vs Lucknow fixture.
The schedule conflict is not new as the two matches of last year’s fixtures has been rescheduled due to Ram Navmi Celebrations – Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals on April 17 has be preponded and played on April 16.
Meanwhile April 16th match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat were played on April 17. Recently, the franchise has announced the Ajinkya Rahane as KKR’s captain with Venkatesh Iyer to be his deputy for IPL 2025 season.
The team is set to start their training camp at Kolkata Eden Gardens from March 12, ready for a promising season ahead.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ will play their first match of the campaign against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 at Eden Gardens.
