Rajasthan Royals' opening batsman Jos Buttler created history by scoring a brilliant century on Tuesday (April 16) in the IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. Butler played an unbeaten inning of 107 runs in 60 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes and single-handedly led the team to victory. While chasing the target in the current season, Butler scored his second century and along with this he also made many records in his name.
While chasing the target of 224 runs, Rajasthan team was in trouble in the last three overs but Butler made his team win on the last ball with his charismatic batting. However, after this victory, Butler gave a statement in which he mentioned MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli and his statement is going quite viral at the moment. Butler has said that he learned from the batting of these two batsmen and finished the match.
During the post-match presentation, Jos Buttler said, “Believing in yourself was the key to success. I struggled to find my rhythm in the beginning and felt frustrated at times. However, I told myself to stay calm and keep moving forward. There are many examples in IPL where players like Dhoni and Kohli batted till the end. I tried to learn from his batting.”
Speaking further, Buttler said, “Sangakkara has often said that there is always a turning point. The worst thing is to give up your wicket without a fight. He advised me to bear the pressure and wait for the rhythm. I followed his suggestion and it benefited me.
Butler remained unbeaten till the end in this match and scored unbeaten 107 runs with the help of 9 fours and 6 sixes in 60 balls. Meanwhile, Jos Buttler also overtook Chris Gayle in the list of most IPL centuries. The Rajasthan Royals opener now has seven IPL centuries to his name, just one century short of Kohli's record of eight centuries in the league.
