IPL 2024: BCCI took strict action against Iyer, KKR captain made a big mistake against RR

Delhi: The 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). In this match played at Kolkata's home ground i.e. Eden Gardens on Tuesday, Rajasthan won by 2 wickets. Meanwhile, not only did the hosts face a crushing defeat on the last ball of this match, but now captain Shreyas Iyer has also suffered a big blow. Actually, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed a fine of Rs 12 lakh on Iyer for not completing the overs in the stipulated time by KKR (maintaining a slow over rate during the match).

An IPL press release stated that this is the first time that Kolkata Knight Riders have violated the over-rate rule of the IPL Code of Conduct. Due to this, a fine of Rs 12 lakh has been imposed on the captain.

According to IPL rules, a fine of Rs 12 lakh is imposed on the captain for the first offense of keeping the overs pace low. Also, if the mistake is made for the second time, a fine of Rs 24 lakh is imposed on the captain and Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee is imposed on other players of the team. At the same time, if such a mistake is made for the third time, the captain will be fined Rs 30 lakh and will also be banned for one match. Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of the match fee is also imposed on other players of the team.

Meanwhile, Shreyas is not the first captain to face such action in IPL 2024. Before this, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant have also faced this.

Rajasthan Royals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in a thrilling match

Batting first in the match on Tuesday, Kolkata team scored 223 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. For KKR, Sunil Narine scored 109 runs in 56 balls. Apart from him, no one could cross the 30 run mark. Avesh Khan and Kuldeep Yadav took 2-2 wickets for Rajasthan.

After this, Rajasthan Royals achieved the target of 224 runs on the last ball of the 20th over. On behalf of the guests, Jos Buttler scored unbeaten 107* runs in 60 balls. Apart from this, Riyan Parag scored 34 runs on 14 balls, while Rovman Powell scored 26 runs on 13 balls. Harshit Rana, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakraborty took 2 wickets each for Kolkata.

Let us tell you that while chasing the target, the guests' score was 162 runs for 6 wickets after 16 overs. In such a situation, he needed 62 runs on 24 balls.
