Delhi: Under the captaincy of Akshay Wadkar, Vidarbha took the title of Ranji Trophy 2025. Vidarbha was declared the champion on the basis of an edge in the first innings after the final match against Kerala. Batsman Danish Malewar was adjudged Player of the Match, who played a brilliant innings of 153 in the first innings and 73 runs in the second innings. Karun Nair also scored 86 runs in the first innings and scored a century in the second innings. This is Vidarbha's third Ranji Trophy title.
Kerala won the toss and decided to bowl first. Vidarbha scored 379 runs in the first innings, with important innings of Danish Malewar (153) and Karun Nair (86). In response, Kerala's team was reduced to 342 runs, which gave Vidarbha a lead of 37 runs. According to the Ranji Trophy rules, if the final match is drawn, then the team that takes the lead in the first innings is declared the winner. In this way Vidarbha won the Ranji Trophy 2025.
The BCCI gave a prize money of Rs 5 crore to the Ranji Trophy Champion Team Vidarbha, while the runner-up Kerala team received Rs 3 crore. Former BCCI secretary and currently ICC chairman Jai Shah had increased the prize money of domestic cricket tournaments last year. Both teams, who were out in the semi-finals of the tournament, received a reward of Rs 1-1 crore.
Vidarbha bowler Harsh Dubey was voted the best player of Ranji Trophy 2025. He took a total of 69 wickets in 10 matches of the tournament and also took 3 wickets in the first innings of the final.
Yash Rathore of Vidarbha became the top scorer of the tournament by scoring 960 runs in 10 matches. At the same time, Karun Nair scored 863 runs in 16 innings of 9 matches and impressed everyone with his performance.
