Riyan Parag is having a dream run in the Indian Premier League 2024. After getting a promotion in the batting order, he has been impressive with the bat. He has taken up the role of an aggressor and an anchor to perfection. When the situation demands, he goes for big hits, but if there is a need to play defensively for some time, the batter doesn’t hesitate to change his approach.

In the game against Kolkata Knight Riders, he went all guns blazing and scored 34 runs off 14, including four fours and two sixes.

He added 50-plus runs with the opening batter, Jos Buttler, who single-handedly won the game for RR. Meanwhile, Parag was dismissed against the run of play after he went for a reckless shot on the bowling of Harshit Rana.

Harbhajan Singh slammed the youngster for his careless attitude. The veteran spoke to Parag after the game.

“Congratulations Parag. I pray that you represent India in T20 World Cup. You are playing well. I sometimes criticized you because of the way of your dismissals. Don’t you think that there was no need to play a shot that resulted in your downfall,” Harbhajan said.

“I was thinking on the same lines and will make sure that it doesn’t happen in the next match,” Parag replied.

Ambati Rayudu also lauded the batter. “You are playing really well and keep up the good work. I want to see you playing for India across formats . You have the talent to do it. Have you done anything this season to get good innings from you bat?” Ambati said.

“Thanks a lot sir. I am keeping things simple and is not complicating the stuff. Earlier, I used to think a lot but now my concentration is on how to score runs for the team,” he replied.
