Delhi: Veteran leg spinner Rashid Khan admitted that Gujarat Titans (GT) have missed the services of their swashbuckling fast bowler Mohammed Shami in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. It is known that Shami has not played cricket since the 2023 ICC World Cup final against Australia, because he is suffering from injuries. This right-arm pacer will not be able to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup to be played in America and West Indies.
As far as GT is concerned, the team led by captain Shubman Gill has currently won 3 out of 6 matches and is at sixth position in the table with 6 points.
Speaking to PTI, the 25-year-old Rashid Khan said, “Shami played a key role for us in the last two seasons with both the new ball and the old ball and the way he performed for the team really inspired me and others. Made the job easy, especially in the middle overs.”
It is known that Shami had won the Purple Cap last year by taking 28 wickets. Currently, he is second in the list of highest wicket takers for GT, having taken 48 wickets in 33 matches with an economy rate of 8.01.
