Delhi: BCCI vice -president Rajiv Shukla said that the organizers should have placed the Indian tricolor with the flags of all teams before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan. A controversy arose only two days before this mega event in Pakistan, when a viral video on social media showed that the roof of the stadium had flags of all countries, but India's flag was missing.
There is tension between the BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about the site of this tournament, as the BCCI refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan due to security reasons. After this, PCB had to adopt the hybrid model, in which the Indian team will play all their matches in Dubai, while Pakistan will remain the host of the tournament.
It is important that in any international tournament, flags of all partner countries are installed. The promotional video of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was also showing the flag of all eight teams showing the pride of Pakistan.
However, Indian players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill were seen on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 billboards on the streets of Pakistan. Many people saw it as a strategy against PCB's BCCI, because the Indian team was not coming to Pakistan. On this, Rajiv Shukla said that the Indian tricolor should have found a place between the flags of all countries.
“First it should be ensured whether the Indian flag was there or not. If not, it should have been installed. Flags of all partner countries should have been there, ”Rajiv Shukla said in a conversation during the restaurant Cricket League in Delhi on Tuesday.
