Rachin Ravindra was injured and left the field after a ball hit near his eye during the first one-day international of the tri-series between New Zealand and Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday.

He was fielding in deep mid-wicket area when Pakistan batter Khushdil Shah struck Michael Bracewell’s delivery. Rachin tried to grab the ball but the all-rounder missed it completely, leading to a nasty injury.

He went down immediately but was able to walk after a while.

Rachin was attended by medical staff of New Zealand.

A section of fans slammed the PCB for the poor floodlights at the stadium. Notably, the venue will also host matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Meanwhile, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 78 runs. The visitors posted 330/6 in 50 overs, with Glenn Phillips hitting an aggressive hundred. Pakistan batters were below-par and the team was bowled out for 252 in 47.5 overs.
