Team India returned to ODI after a long time with this series, which is considered important according to the preparation of the Champions Trophy. Earlier, the Indian team played 3 ODIs on Sri Lanka tour in July-August, which was India's first and only ODI series after the World Cup 2023 finals. In such a situation, there were eyes on how the players of Team India mold themselves in this format. Most players did not disappoint.

Harshit-Jadeja returns after poor start

In this match, the Indian team bowled first and Mohammed Shami started tight. But the English opener broke down on Harshit Rana, who is making his ODI debut from the other side. Both of them had added 75 runs in just 9 overs, when Phil Salt (45) was run out. Team India started a comeback from here. Harshit played an important role in this. He first took the wickets of Ben Docket (32) and then Harry Brook (0). At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja made Joe Root (19) his victim again.

In the middle order, captain Jose Butler, along with young all -rounder Jacob Bathal, handled the team. First Butler (52) scored a half -century and then after he was dismissed, Bathl (51) along with the lower order brought the team to 200. He also completed his half -century but he also became a victim of Jadeja. Finally, Jofra Archer (21) put some big shots and brought the team to a worth 248. Harshit and Jadeja took 3-3 wickets, while Shami, Akshar and Kuldeep Yadav got 1-1 success.

Rohit again fails, Shubman-Ayyar overturned

Harshit Rana's debut was strong, now there were eyes on Yashasvi Jaiswal. Virat Kohli was out of this match due to injury, due to which Jaiswal (15) got an ODI debut. However, in front of the best bowling of Jofra Archer and Saqib Mahmud, he was upset and finally became a victim of Archer. At the same time, captain Rohit (2) again disappointed. The poor form of Test format continued in ODIs as well and then he gave wickets by playing wrong shots.

But from here, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill (87) prepared the foundation of victory by playing vigorous innings. Especially Iyer (59) attacked as soon as he arrived, in which 2 sixes and 1 four were the most powerful in Archer's over. Iyer scored a half -century in just 30 balls but could not change his innings into a big score. After he was dismissed, Akshar (52) was promoted and he shared a 108 -run partnership with Gill, which confirmed the victory. Akshar was bowled by Adil Rashid by scoring his half -century, while Shubman Gill was dismissed just 13 runs before his century. After this, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja brought the team to victory.
