There is less than two weeks left for the Champions Trophy 2025 to start, but the world champion Australia's difficulty has increased manifold. Mitchell Marsh has already been out of the tournament, while Marcus Stoinis has also shocked with a sudden retirement. Now Australia has suffered a bigger shock because team captain Pat Cummins and star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood have also been ruled out of the Champions Trophy. Both the veteran fast bowlers of the team could not recover from their injuries on time and now they will not be a part of this tournament.
Australia chief selector George Bailey told in a press conference on Thursday 6 February that both players will not be able to fit on time. Cummins suffered injuries during the Test series against India but was part of the entire series. At the same time, Josh Hazlewood was out of the series during the third Test. Both these players have not been able to fit yet. In such a situation, now Cricket Australia will have to announce a replacement.
