Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has got a relief from the ICC before the start of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. According to reports, the ICC has increased the deadline for PCB for the preparation of stadiums, which has been given as a special discount.

Stadiums tested from tri-series

PCB is now in a difficult situation as it has to ensure that the stadium is ready for the Champions Trophy. There is less than two weeks left for the tournament to start in the stadiums in Lokin, Lahore and Karachi. However, PCB hopes that they will complete the work within the scheduled deadline.

Pakistan has to play a tri-series with South Africa and New Zealand from 8 February 2025. Earlier this series was to be held in Multan, but now it has been transferred to Lahore and Karachi.

This change was made so that PCB could test both stadiums and ensure that they were fully prepared for the Champions Trophy. The ICC typically holds the entire responsibility of the stadiums three weeks before the start of the tournament, but this time the ICC has given a special discount in its normal “characteristic period” rules.

ICC gave special permission

An ICC official told the Times of India, “Hosts can take special permission from the ICC, so that they can run some activities in their stadiums. PCB has followed the process, and the ICC has allowed it. Similarly, Dubai Stadium is also being used during its specialty period during ILT20. ”

With the Champions Trophy approaching, PCB is working hard to prepare stadiums in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi. With the additional deadline given by the ICC, PCB aims to complete all the necessary preparations on time, so that this tournament can be successful.
