However, India's men's hockey team has suffered an embarrassing defeat in the Asian Winter Games. India's team did not run in front of Hong Kong's male ice hockey team. Indian players could not even score a goal. India had to bear the brunt of this very badly. Hong Kong's team trampled the Indian team badly and made the Indian team fade all four.

During the three periods of the game, Hong Kong completely dominated India and India's team did nothing but surrender. In the first period, the Indian team could not score a single goal. While Hong Kong scored 10 goals in the first period. In the second period too, the position of the Indian team remained the same. But Hong scored 12 goals in the second period. India's hands remained vacant in the third period of the match played at China's Harbin Sport University Student Skating Hall. While Hong Kong scored eight goals during this period. And by winning 30–0, there was an outcry in ice hockey.
