Delhi: India's spinner Varun Chakraborty has been included in the team for the three -match ODI series against England. He was the highest wicket-taking bowler in India's 4–1 victory. He took 14 wickets, and his average was 9.86, while the economy was 7.66.
Chakravarti joins ODI team
According to ESPNCRICINFO report, Varun recently performed brilliantly in the five -match T20 series, after which he was included in the ODI team. Varun has not yet participated in any ODI. He has played only 23 List A matches and took 18 wickets in six matches in this season's Vijay Hazare Trophy, which makes him the second biggest wicket-teching bowler of the season.
India's spin department has further strengthened by joining his team, which already includes Kuldeep Yadav, Akshar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
Preparation for Champions Trophy
Although the official announcement has not been made by BCCI to join Varun's team, this development is important, as this ODI series is the last series before the upcoming Champions Trophy. Some of the leading bowlers in the Champions Trophy like Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Jaspreet Bumrah are returning from injury. Bumrah will be part of the team in the third ODI, while Harshit Rana has got a place in the 16 -member team for the first two matches.
ODIs will be played between India and England in Nagpur, Cuttack and Ahmedabad on 6, 9 and 12 February, after which the Indian team will go to Dubai for the Champions Trophy. India can make changes in the Champions Trophy team by February 11 without the permission of the ICC.
