Australian speedster Mitchell Starc is unfazed by criticism over not living up to his hefty IPL price tag. However, he admitted on Sunday that his limited T20 experience could explain his slow start this season. Starc, bought for a record Rs 24.75 crore in the IPL, produced his best performance by claiming 3/28 against Lucknow Super Giants. This included two vital wickets in the final over, restricting LSG to 161/7.

KKR comfortably chased the target in 15.4 overs with eight wickets in hand. Before Sunday’s match, Starc had taken only two wickets in four matches, averaging 77 runs and leaking 11 runs per over, facing a lot of scrutiny

“I don’t read anything, so I don’t feel any issue.” stated Starc after the match against LSG.

“Since I have not played much T20 cricket recently, it has taken me longer than expected to regain my rhythm and make a greater impact. However, today’s performance was an encouraging step in the right direction.” said Starc.

According to Starc, Test cricketers do not find it difficult to manage their workload in T20 cricket or adjust to the demands of the IPL.

“At 34 years of age, I’m great at managing workloads. Having competed in this sport for many years, I find the shorter T20 format less physically demanding than Test matches. With T20 games happening in quick succession, there is little time to dwell on previous performances. Instead, the focus is on tactics and adaptation.”

Starc further added,

“We will play again on Tuesday, which highlights a key point of T20 cricket: regardless of the outcome each game, teams must quickly refocus on the next match. So far this season, our team has performed quite well overall, and now we shift our attention to Tuesday’s game.”

Starc reflected on the win against LSG.

“We had a strong performance, as our bowlers kept the Lucknow Super Giants’ score under par. This set the stage for our batters, who then went out and clinically chased the total. Overall, it was a solid day.”
