Shahid Afridi has lauded India for hosting Pakistan during his active days as a player. The veteran all-rounder has an impressive record against the arch-rivals. He scored a hundred in one of the ODIs against the Men in Blue in 2005.
Afridi recently responded to a tweet by one of his fans on X.
“One of my most favourite innings which the team needed the most as this was a must win game for Pakistan. This is the innings after which @RaviShastriOfc gave me the Boom Boom title! This tour was one of my most memorable ones and the entire team thoroughly enjoyed the Indian hospitality. I hope Indo-Pak bilateral cricket can resume soon so that the players get to experience the best that cricket has to offer,” he wrote.
India doesn’t play against Pakistan in bilateral matches anymore. The terror attacks and political tension have impacted cricket relations as well.
The two powerhouses only complete against each other in the ICC events and the Asia Cup. The Men in Blue defeated Pakistan in their previous game in the ICC World Cup 2023.
They will also clash in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Meanwhile, Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy in 2025 and it will be interesting to see if India travel to the neighbouring country.
