Virat Kohli’s Delhi teammate shares what the star batter told security after three fans invaded the ground to meet him during the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match

Virat Kohli‘s return to domestic cricket was marred by multiple pitch invasions. On Day 3 (Saturday, February 1) of Delhi’s Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, three fans bypassed security and ran onto the field to touch the former India captain’s feet.

Delhi all-rounder Shivam Sharma recently shared Virat Kohli’s reaction to the incident. He mentioned that the cricket star had told security not to harm any of the three fans involved.

However, Sharma also stressed that such invasions should not have occurred, as they could have posed a security risk to Kohli. He spoke to PTI, as reported by The Indian Express.

“It was solely due to Virat bhaiya’s immense popularity that this incident occurred. It shouldn’t have happened. Anyone could have walked in with anything. Virat bhaiya even told the security, ‘Don’t harm anyone.’”

It’s important to note that a similar incident occurred on Day 1 of Kohli’s Ranji Trophy comeback. A fan ran towards the veteran player and touched his feet before being escorted out by security. The 36-year-old was seen gesturing to the guards to avoid hurting the individual.

This five-wicket haul will always remain a cherished memory for me. Having the legend, Virat Kohli bhaiya, sign the ball for me made it even more memorable. I’m truly grateful to God for his blessings.”

This was Kohli’s first Ranji Trophy appearance in over 12 years, but it turned out to be a disappointing outing for him with the bat. He managed to score only six runs before being dismissed by pacer Himanshu Sangwan.
