Sanju Samson suffered a finger injury during the fifth and final T20I against England. With just over a month left before the 18th season of the Indian Premier League starts, Samson’s injury could impact Rajasthan Royals. Sanju is set to be out of action for five to six weeks after fracturing his index finger.

“Samson’s right index finger is fractured. He will not play cricket for five to six weeks. There is no chance of him representing Kerala in their quarterfinal against Jammu & Kashmir from February 8-12. He will return for RR in the Indian Premier League ,” stated a BCCI source, as quoted by India TV.

He has been a backbone of Rajasthan’s batting unit in the last few seasons and the team management is anxiously waiting for him to recover at the earliest. The right-handed batter was hit on his finger while trying to hit Jofra Archer for a six in the first over of Team India’s innings in Mumbai. He successfully managed to smashed a maximum on Archer’s first delivery but failed to time the next one, resulting in a painful blow.

Samson was attended by physio and he continued to bat after getting treatment. However, he didn’t keep wickets and was replaced by Dhruv Jurel.

Samson managed just 51 runs in five innings in the recently concluded series.
