, the Indian wicket-keeper batter, suffered a fracture to his right index finger after the ball from England pacer Jofra Archer hit his hand during the fifth and final T20I of the series at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which India won by 150 runs.

With that, it has been reported that the 30-year-old will miss six weeks of action, but for the sake of Rajasthan Royals, he is expected to be fit in time for the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) this March.

Notably, during the recently concluded five-match T20I series at home, Sanju Samson scored just 51 runs in five innings at an average of 10.20 and a strike-rate of 118.20. With such poor returns in the series, Sanju Samson needed some time to in the middle get to his fluent best in the IPL for the Rajasthan Royals, but it won't be the case as he will be unavailable for Kerala in their upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 quarter-final against Jammu & Kashmir at the MCA Stadium in Pune later this month.

It will take him five to six weeks before he can resume proper nets

As per the report from Sportstar, Sanju Samson has made his way back home in Thiruvananthapuram, and he will train only after completing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The date of return to competitive cricket for the right-handed batter will be decided by the NCA after he completely recovers from his finger fracture.

Moreover, a BCCI source told PTI about the current situation in regards to the Kerala-born cricketer, on the conditions of anonymity, and said, 'Samson has fractured his right index finger. It will take him five to six weeks before he can resume proper nets. So there is no chance of him playing the Ranji Trophy quarte-rfinal for Kerala (vs J&K) in Pune from February 8-12.'

'In all likelihood, his comeback will happen in the IPL for Rajasthan Royals (RR),' he added.
