At the Australian Cricket Awards 2025, 19-year-old Sam Konstas was honored with the prestigious Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award.

The accolade recognizes his breakthrough season, where he impressed with both talent and fearless intent on the international stage.

Konstas gained widespread recognition following his Test debut against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. His aggressive approach against the formidable Jasprit Bumrah and a heated moment with Virat Kohli made headlines, solidifying his reputation as a rising star.

During the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, Konstas showcased his attacking mindset, scoring 60 off 65 balls against India's world-class pace attack.

His innovative strokeplay, including a daring scoop against Bumrah, highlighted his confidence at the highest level.

A dramatic moment unfolded when he had a shoulder bump with Kohli after taking a sharp single. The incident led to a fine for the Indian captain, further amplifying Konstas' impact in the series. Despite Australia's struggles in the series, his fearless batting stood out and earned him praise from cricketing legends.

Across the summer, Konstas compiled 471 runs, including two centuries, proving his consistency in domestic and international cricket.

Upon receiving the award, he credited his coaches and senior players, stating, "Their guidance has been invaluable in navigating the challenges of international cricket."

However, despite his rapid rise, Konstas was left out of the squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka. The selection decision sparked debate, with Ricky Ponting and other former players questioning why a young talent in top form was overlooked.
