The Indian cricket team also ended the T20 series against England in a brilliant manner. In the last match of the series in Mumbai, Team India defeated England by 150 runs on the basis of Abhishek Sharma's explosive century innings and won the series 4–1. Team India and fans celebrated the victory fiercely. But now it seems that the taste of this magnificent success has faded slightly because the team's star wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has been injured and now it is difficult to return to the field for the next few weeks, which has given the champions at his last moment. The trophy has also abolished the hopes of killing entry in the squad.
Samson suffered this injury in the fifth and last match of the T20 series played on Sunday 2 February at Wankhede Stadium. While batting first, Sanju Samson started the innings for Team India and had hit a six on Jofra Archer's first ball. But on the third ball of the over, the England fast bowler put Sanju Samson in trouble. The ball hit Sanju's gloves directly, due to which he suffered an injury to his finger. At such a time, the physio of Team India stepped on the field and examined them for some time and reduced the pain. Sanju stayed for some more balls but was dismissed in the next over.
However, till that time this injury was not very serious, but when he did not land on the field in the second innings, then it seemed that the situation is not good. In his place, Dhruv Jurael took the gloves behind the wicket during Indian bowling. Now the report of the news agency PTI has revealed that Samson's right -handed index has fractured. According to the report, Samson's finger was scanned in which this has been revealed. When Samson returned to the dressing room, there was swelling in his finger, after which the scan was done.
The report quoted BCCI sources as saying that Samson has now gone away from cricket action for about 5-6 weeks. He has returned to his home Thiruvanatampuram and will soon go to BCCI's Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Here he will complete his rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical team and will be able to return to cricket only after getting permission from there. The effect of this injury is that Samson will not be able to land on the ground for Kerala in the quarter -final match of the Ranji Trophy to be held from 8 to 12 February.
Not only this, his hopes of making a place in the Champions Trophy have also remained in Dhari. Samson did not find a place in the Indian squad for this tournament, but Rishabh Pant or KL Rahul had to have the next number of Samson in the event of injury to any one wicketkeeper. Now if this happens, Samson's number will not come. However, the relief for Samson and Rajasthan Royals is that they are expected to be fully recovered before the IPL 2025 season.
