Delhi: India's fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah reached the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Sunday. Here his medical examination will be done by the BCCI's medical team. Bumrah suffered a back injury during the Sydney Test match last month, after which he did not participate in the T20 series against England and he has not been selected for the upcoming ODI series against England.
Fitness clearance is necessary
According to the Times of India report, Bumrah will have to get fitness approval to play in the Champions Trophy. Their medical examination and scan will be done this week, and only then will it be decided whether he will participate in the tournament or not. The report also stated that Bumrah will stay in Bengaluru for the next few days, and NCA experts will send their report to Ajit Agarkar -led selection committee.
Selection committee deadline
Ajit Agarkar, head of the selection committee, had already told that Bumrah has been given five weeks of rest, and he will not be available for the first two ODIs against England. The committee had kept the time till the first week of February to assess Bumrah's fitness. The selection committee will soon get information about the medical condition of Bumrah.
Decision on Bumrah at last time
Since all the teams have declared their Provisional Champions Trophy Squad, but the final team will have to be announced by 11 February. For this reason, Agarkar has only eight days, in which he will have to take a decision on Bumrah's fitness. If Bumrah is unable to play in the Champions Trophy, Harshit Rana can be included in the team in his place.
Champions Trophy starts
India's team will leave for Dubai on 15 February, where all Champions Trophy matches will be played. In such a situation, if Team India qualifies for semi -finals and finals, then all the matches of India will be played in Dubai.
