Abhishek Sharma scored a hundred off 37 balls, the third fastest for India in T20Is. He achieved this record in the fifth T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Overall, the southpaw amassed 135 runs off 54 balls, with the help of 13 sixes and 7 boundaries.
He became the first Indian batter to smash this number of maximums in a T20I match. He went passed Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma, who had struck 10 biggies each, respectively.
Apart from this, Abhishek also recorded the highest individual total by an Indian batter in this format of the game. He broke Shubman Gill’s record of 126 runs. Sharma was sensational from the start of his innings and kept going after the bowlers despite the team losing the wickets from the other end. It was his hundred, with the first one coming in his second T20I against Zimbabwe.
Abhishek was out of form for a long time before hitting an aggressive fifty in the first match of the five-match series against England. His bat remained silent for the next three games before reaching a three-digit mark in the final contest.
