India posted 247/9, with Abhishek Sharma scoring 135 runs in the fifth T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium. Apart from him, none of the other batters touched the fifty-run mark as well. The Men in Blue kept losing wickets from the other end, but Abhishek continued to hit big shots, with 13 sixes coming from his bat. It was another ordinary day for Sanju Samson, who registered the fifth failure of the series.
He slammed 16 runs off 7 balls, with the help of 2 sixes and 1 four. Samson didn’t come out to keep wickets for the team as he was hit on his hand on the second ball of India’s innings first over.
He hit the first delivery for a six and wanted the same result on the next but missed it completely. Samson was attended by a physio, but he continued to bat. However, it seemed he suffered an injury as Dhruv Jurel was sent as a wicketkeeper by the team management.
Samson’s place has come under scrutiny, and with Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal likely returning to the T20I side, there is a possibility of him getting dropped.
Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian captain, is another batter who registered five-low scores against England.
