New Delhi. Only a few days are left for the start of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The upcoming T20 World Cup is to be played in USA and West Indies from June 1. The Indian team for the T20 World Cup is going to be announced soon. For this, the meeting of Indian selectors under the leadership of Ajit Agarkar can be held on the last date of this month (30 April) or on the first day of next month.
ICC has set May 1 as the deadline for declaring the team for the T20 World Cup. That means by this date all 20 countries have to choose their respective teams. Indian fans are also eagerly waiting for their team to be selected. Indian selectors will choose their team, before that let us tell you who are the players who can get a chance to play T20 World Cup…
Batsman (5): Along with captain Rohit Sharma, former captain Virat Kohli and number-1 T20 batsman Suryakumay Yadav are almost certain to be in the World Cup team. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh may also get a chance to play the World Cup. Yashasvi has shown excellent performance with the bat in recent times, while Rinku Singh has also played the role of finisher very well.
Wicketkeeper (2): Talking about wicketkeeper batsmen, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson can be in the World Cup team. Pant has returned to professional cricket through IPL 2024. Pant has shown signs of being in form by playing some explosive innings. Pant’s performance behind the wicket has also been excellent. On the other hand, Sanju Samson can get a place as the second wicketkeeper. Sanju is performing brilliantly with the bat for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the current IPL season.
All-rounder (3): Talking about all-rounders, Hardik Pandya can enter the team. Hardik is captaining Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2024. The entry of spin bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is also considered certain. Jadeja can be given priority over Akshar Patel. Shivam Dubey, famous for six-hitting, can also be included in the squad. Shivam is also capable of bowling.
Spinners (2): Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal can be included in the World Cup team as specialist spin bowlers. Leg-spinner Chahal is the highest wicket-taker for India in T20 cricket and he is performing brilliantly in the IPL. Since the T20 World Cup is to be held in West Indies and USA, the role of Kuldeep and Chahal can be very important on slow pitches.
Fast Bowler (3): Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh’s place in the fast bowling unit seems to be confirmed. At the same time, Mohammad Siraj can also be included as the third specialist fast bowler. Siraj has definitely proved to be expensive in the current IPL season. But his performance at the international level has been excellent.
Probable team for T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Shivam Dubey, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Rinku Singh, Mohammad Siraj.
These players are also contenders for selection: KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Mayank Yadav (currently injured), Shubman Gill, Ryan Parag, Akshar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Mukesh Kumar.
This time the T20 World Cup will be played in a total of 3 stages including knockout. All 20 teams were divided into 4 groups of 5 each. The top-2 teams of each group will enter the Super-8. After this, all the 8 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 each. In the Super-8 stage, the top two teams of both the groups will enter the semi-finals. Two teams will make it to the finals through semi-final matches.
