Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra refused to say much about the struggling Sanju Samson because of the fear of his fan army. The right-handed batter has registered four consecutive failures in the five-match series against England, and his place is once again under the scanner.

Chopra mentioned that Samson was dismissed in the same fashion in the last four outings. “Samson is getting out in the same fashion but I don’t want to upset Sanju’s fan army at all,” he said.

With Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal being preferred in ODIs and Test cricket, the management decided to open with Samson. He scored a hundred in the third and final T20I against Bangladesh. The right-handed batter then amassed two centuries against South Africa in the four-match series. He was expected to go big against England, but the player has disappointed everyone.

Sanju, who was not considered for the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Kerala, was not selected for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

With just 35 runs in four games, his returns have been questionable. Samson has been dismissed thrice by Jofra Archer and once by Saqib Mahmood. “He is unable to handle the short ball and is finding a fielder in the deep,” he added.
