Sachin Tendulkar got the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to cricket. The BCCI Naman Awards 2023-24 were held in Mumbai, with the current and former players gracing the occasion.
Sachin played 664 matches for India and holds the record of scoring the highest runs in Tests and one-day internationals history. “It is important to take care of your game as the time wouldn’t come back once you retire. I realized on my final day in 2013 that I would never play for the country again,” he said.
Jasprit Bumrah was honoured with the Polly Umrigar Award for being the Best International Cricketer in the Men’s category. Bumarh recently won the ICC Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year awards. He took 32 wickets in the five Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and was declared the Player of the Series.
Smriti Mandhana was declared the Best International Cricketer in the Women’s category. Mandhana was also the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year. Ravichandran Ashwin, who retired from international cricket after the third Test against Australia, was given a special award.
Sarfaraz Khan walked away with the Best International Debut award.
