Former England captain Alastair Cook was left fuming after the Jos Buttler-led side failed to complete their run chase on January 31, leading to a series defeat.

Cook feels that the call to bring in Harshit Rana in place of Shivam Dube, who suffered a concussion, was unfair. However, it should not have stopped England from winning the game, especially after the kind of start they got in the powerplay.

'I think we can rant and rave about it, it was the wrong call, but England still should have won the game,' Cook told TNT Sports.

'We got a bit carried away, the headline isn't about that because, actually, I thought England were dumb on some of those shots,' he said.

'It's a hard thing to say because T20 cricket is a balancing act, but sometimes the modern thinking isn't right, I'm sorry,' he added.

'Ben Duckett played beautifully today, 62 off 5.5 overs for nought on the power play. One ball to go, just see out the play. Knock out a single and then regroup again, you've done your job,' he further added.

'Yet, I don't know whether it's ego or whatever, it's like 'I've got to carry on playing my way'. Just take a single and then reassess, knowing how important the next three or four overs [are],' he concluded.

England team will face India for the final match of the five-match series. With India leading 3-1, the visitors have already lost the series, and now the final match will be played just to decide will India win 3-2 or 4-1.
