Harshit Rana has made headlines in the fourth T20 match played between India and England in Pune. The reason for this is the performance of Harshit, who took Team India in the match by taking 3 wickets of England. But Harshit Rana was not even a part of this match. He got a place in the team as a concentration substitute of Shivam Dubey amid the match and then he did this wonders. But this has raised the question, what is this convention and how and why does its rule apply in cricket? When did this rule come into force and how did Team India get the benefit of it?
To understand this, they take the example of the Indo-England match incident. In the last over of the Indian innings, England fast bowler Jamie overton's ball was in the helmet of batsman Shivam Dubey. As soon as the ball hit the helmet, Team India's physio came on the ground and he investigated Dubey. He saw whether Dubey is fit and can continue playing further. There were only 2 balls left in the innings, so Dubey continued to play. But when the fielding of Team India started, Harshit Rana came as a substitute in place of Dubey on the field and then the BCCI gave updates that Harshit is part of the subsidy as a convention.
Now you know what is concentration? In fact, such an injury or any kind of collision in the head is generally called concentration which affects the brain. Now this effect can also occur directly on the head or face or on the surrounding part of the neck. That is, any such injury, which has difficulty in seeing, understanding and remaining in consciousness, it is called Kanakashan. It is very common in sports, especially in sports like football, rugby and cricket.
In cricket, it is often seen that the ball is often seen on the head of the batsman or fielder or sometimes players collide or sometimes the dive gets hurt on the head of a player. Earlier in cricket, Kanakashan was not given much attention, but after the death of Australian batsman Phil Hughes in 2013, it was seriously thought about and finally in 2019 the ICC implemented this rule.
Now let us tell you about the rule. In the Convention Substitute Rules, which came into effect from 1 July 2019, the ICC had made it clear that if any player gets a ball on the head during the game or gets hurt in some other way, the medical team will immediately examine it and know if the player will further Whether in the position of playing or not. If the player has any kind of dizziness or it looks blurred or it hurts, then he has to be taken out of the field immediately. Talking about the batsman, the physio not only has to investigate the player but also has to change his helmet, even if the helmet is in the right position.
In the case of concentration, in fact, there is no immediate symptom, but they are seen many times after a few minutes or even after hours. In such a situation, if a player seems to be symptoms of this convention, then he can subsidize the player by officially requesting the team match referee. Now here the ICC has placed the most important condition that the subsidy should be 'Like for Like', that is, the player who is hurt, the player has to be included. Only an all -rounder can come in exchange for the batsman, bowler in exchange for the batsman, bowler and all -rounder. If the team does not have a 'Like for Like' replacement, then the referee can decide in this case which player can be allowed to be included in the team. Since 2019, many players have landed as a concentration substitute.
