The all-rounder Mitchell Marsh who joined Lucknow Super Giants for a price of INR 3.4 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction has recently complained of a back injury he sustained during the summer season.

As a result, he was ruled out of next month’s Champions Trophy 2025 and remains uncertain for the Indian Premier League which is set to begin in March.

Mitchell Marsh has played around 42 IPL matches since his debut in 2010 season. He has scored 666 runs with a high score of 89 an average of 19.59 and a strike rate of 127.83. Meanwhile, he has 37 wickets with an economy of 8.52 in the IPL.

Despite his inconsistent performance in recent days, the Australian T20I captain could prove to be a valuable player in the middle order for LSG.

If he skips the IPL 2025 due to injury, the franchise will look for a possible replacement for the upcoming 18th season of the cash rich T20 league.

Shardul Thakur (India)

Shardul Thakur who went unsold in the IPL auction due to a combination of recent poor form, injury concerns and inconsistent performances. Shardul has picked 94 wickets in his IPL career with an economy of 9.23.  Meanwhile he has amassed 307 runs through bat.

However, having played 95 matches in the Indian Premier League, Thakur could bring in his experience for Lucknow if is named as a replacement.

Daryl Mitchell (New Zealand)

New Zealand batting all-rounder Daryl Mitchell was another big name to have missed an IPL contract in the upcoming edition. His IPL stint began in 2022 seasn with Rajasthan Royals and after an impressive performance during the 2023 ODI World Cup, he gained the attention of the CSK who signed him for INR 14 crore.

He scored 318 runs in 13 matches during the 2024 season which made an significant impact in matches. Though performing consistently he has been went unsold in the mega auction.

Daryl Mitchell could serve as a potential replacement for the Australian all-rounder in the LSG franchise.

Glenn Phillips (New Zealand)

The All-rounder Glenn Phillips was sent unsold at the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah before being released by SRH ahead of the auction. After impressive test tour in India, it is shocking to see the New Zealander went unsold.

With only playing eight matches in the Indian Premier League, he did not have impressive stint in the Indian league. However, with his recent form in the Indian conditions could make him a one of the potential replacements for Australian all-rounder.
