Virat Kohli’s return to a Ranji Trophy match was short-lived, as the veteran managed just 6 runs before he was clean-bowled by Harish Sangwan. The batter left a gap between the bat and pad while going for a drive, and the ball went through to hit the stumps. The entire stadium was stunned by Kohli’s early dismissal.

He lasted for 15 balls and hit just 1 four. The right-handed batter has been struggling for runs in red-ball cricket, and there were a lot of expectations from him for this game, but the 36-year-old registered another disappointing outing.

More than 15,000 fans had occupied the stands on Day 1, but Delhi Ayush Badoni won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Although Delhi managed to dismiss the Railways for 241 on the opening days there was no glimpse of Kohli as he bats at the No.4 slot.

The fans again came to the venue to watch Kohli’s batting, but his early departure was shocking for them. The BCCI has made it mandatory for the Indian cricketer to play domestic cricket after the Test series defeat in Australia. Kohli was in awful form down under and opted out of the first Ranji Trophy match due to a neck sprain.

He confirmed his availability for the second contest. He has another innings to make his fans happy. The right-handed batter will then play three ODIs against England before heading to Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
