Harbhajan Singh wants Virat Kohli to enjoy his come back to Ranji Trophy instead of worrying about scoring runs. Kohli is playing his first red-ball game in domestic cricket after more than 12 years. The veteran is representing Delhi against Railways in the Elite Group D game at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in New Delhi. Fans filled the stadium to watch their favourite cricketer in action and one of the supporters entered the playing area to seek Virat’s blessings.
Harbhajan is not concentrating on Virat’s runs. He just want the cricketer to enjoy and share his experience with the young cricketers.
“Virat Kohli is a role model and the young players follow him. If he scores runs or not against Railways is a different matter. I want him to enjoy cricket,” Harbhajan said.
“The pressure and expectations don’t allow a cricketer of Virat Kohli’s stature to enjoy. He should tell the youngsters how to become Virat Kohli,” he added.
Virat has been battling poor form in international cricket. He failed to get going across formats last year. In 10 Test matches, the right-handed batter amassed 417 runs at an average of 24.52.
Harbhajan gave him a simple solution. “Virat should occupy the crease. Even if he scores zero, he will remain Virat Kohli. He has achieved a lot as a cricketer. If he manages to occupy the crease, he will score runs.”
