On the second day of the ongoing 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, swimming and shooting events were celebrated, in which medals came in the bag of many states. While Karnataka was dominated by swimming, athletes of different states got success in shooting. The most famous name in this was Olympic Anish Bhanwala. This young shooter from Haryana won the gold medal in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol. As far as Padal Table is concerned, Karnataka remains at number one with 12 medals including 7 gold.
On Thursday 30 January, the second day of the Games was eyeing the shooters. Anish Bhanwala of Haryana showed his glow at the shooting event being held in the Trishul shooting range of Dehradun. Anish, who won the medal in the prestigious event like the World Championship, won the gold by defeating the army by a margin of 3 hits. In the Rapid Fire Pistol event, Anish hit 31 hits while Gurpreet Singh won silver with 28 hits and Vijayveer Sidhu of Punjab won the bronze with 26 hits.
On the other hand, there was a reversal in the women's 10m air rifle competition. Here, Narmada of Tamil Nadu won the Gold, beating the star shooter, who won several medals like Olympian Elavenil Velarivan. Narmada broke the national record of Apoorvi Chandela (252.9) in 2019 with a score of 254.4 in the final. Arya Borsse (252.5) of Maharashtra finished second and Ramita Jindal (230.4) of Haryana finished third.
As far as swimming is concerned, like the first day, Karnataka continued on the second day. Karnataka won 1 gold and 1 silver medal in different events. On the first day of the games, Karnataka won 5 gold medals in swimming. In addition to swimming, Karnataka also won the gold medal in men's road cycling. At the same time, Manipur, who reached the second place with 11 medals, presented a tough challenge for Karnataka by winning one gold medal in Wushu and Triathlon.
On the other hand, Chhattisgarh won two gold medals in weightlifting. His weightlifter Vijay Kumar won the gold in the clean and jerk of the men's 55 kg weight category. Gyaneshwari Yadav, another weightlifter from Chhattisgarh, won the gold by lifting a total of 191 kg (85 kg +106 kg) in 49 kg of women. Sarika Shingare (total 179 kg) of Maharashtra and Komal Kohar (179 kg) of Haryana won the silver medal and bronze medal.
