Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) batting coach Kieron Pollard feels that star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will perform brilliantly in the T20 World Cup 2024 and will make his place in the hearts of the fans. Pandya is expected to play a key role for India in the ICC tournaments in the West Indies and the US starting June 1 and Pollard is confident that the fans will support and appreciate the all-rounder.

36-year-old Kieron Pollard said about Hardik's batting, “As a person you have to evolve, when you are young, you have youthful enthusiasm. You go out and do things a certain way, as you grow up, responsibility comes.”

The former MI veteran player further said, “What I see is that the boy (Hardik) is developing. We personally want to see certain things, but sometimes the game doesn't demand certain things and (players) make mistakes as they progress, as we all have. “He has worked hard and it pays off, so when the time comes, we will all praise him.”

Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians lost against Chennai Super Kings.

It is noteworthy that ever since Hardik became the captain of Mumbai Indians, Rohit's fans have been trolling him fiercely and raising slogans against him. Under his captaincy, MI had to face defeat by 20 runs against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. Despite winning the important toss in the match against Chennai, Hardik's decisions taken on the field as captain were criticized. Not getting the spinners to bowl in the middle overs, Dhoni hitting three consecutive sixes in the last over of Chennai's innings were the main reasons for Pandya's criticism.

Pollard defended Hardik and said, “Now we need to encourage him without picking anyone and blaming him, but the best performance can be expected only from India's best all-rounder. He can bowl, bat and field. This is his biggest specialty.”
