Rohit Sharma-led India are all set to kick off their campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, aiming for their second ICC title in less than a year.
The Men in Blue have already unveiled their squad for the marquee tournament, featuring a mix of experienced stars and emerging talents.
While stalwarts like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to play pivotal roles, legendary South African batter AB de Villiers has identified Kuldeep Yadav as India's potential X-factor for the event.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, de Villiers highlighted Kuldeep's ability to exploit spin-friendly conditions in Dubai, where all of India's matches will be held. "Kuldeep Yadav is also in the Indian team, who I think can prove to be an X-factor for India. India is going to play its matches in Dubai. Spinners can get an advantage on the pitch there. Kuldeep can perform well for India," de Villiers remarked.
Kuldeep Yadav, the left-arm wrist-spinner, has been in the spotlight recently after working on a long-term groin issue that sidelined him from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Following his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Kuldeep is gearing up for his comeback. He is set to play the final group-stage match of the Ranji Trophy 2025 for Uttar Pradesh, ahead of India's ODI series against England, marking his return to competitive cricket.
The Champions Trophy will provide Kuldeep with a significant platform to showcase his skills, especially in conditions that favor spin. His ability to deceive batters with his variations has made him a crucial asset for the Indian team, and his inclusion adds depth to India's spin department, which also features Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar.
India's squad for the Champions Trophy reflects a well-rounded mix of batting firepower, all-round versatility, and bowling strength. With Rohit Sharma leading the side, supported by vice-captain Shubman Gill, and the return of Rishabh Pant post-injury, the team looks well-prepared for the high-stakes tournament.
As the Champions Trophy approaches, all eyes will be on India's campaign and how the team utilizes its resources, particularly Kuldeep Yadav, in their quest to bring home another ICC trophy. With strong performances across all departments, the Men in Blue will look to cement their dominance on the global stage.
