The International Cricket Council and Pakistan Cricket Board have decided to cancel the captains’ photoshoot and press conference ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was not interested in sending captain Rohit Sharma to Pakistan. According to a report, England will reach Pakistan on February 18, a day before the start of the Champions Trophy.
Australia will arrive on February 19, a day when host Pakistan compete against New Zealand in the the opening contest.
As per a report by Geo Super, England will take a seven-day break after the ODI series against India. Australia, who are currently playing against Sri Lanka in the first Test, will give four days rest to their players after the second and final red-ball match. Both teams will not play warm-up matches.
Meanwhile, the PCB is planning to host an opening ceremony at Lahore’s iconic Hazuri Bagh on February 16. There is a possibility of a few more ceremonies in Lahore and Karachi, with Prime Minister and President of Pakistan expected to grace the occasions.
The ICC has started the sale of tickets for the matches in Pakistan but all the three venues are still not ready. India will play their matches against Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in Dubai. If the Men in Blue make it to semi-finals and the final, the two knockouts will be hosted by Dubai.
